A Step-By-Step Guide to Register as a Legal Cannabis Patient in Florida

Business Insider reports that recreational marijuana is legal in 10 states, whereas, medical marijuana is legal in 33 states.

Medical marijuana has been making waves for its numerous health benefits it offers for the mind and body. It’s used to treat anxiety, depression, insomnia, epilepsy, chronic pain, and various other conditions.

The Florida Medical Marijuana Legalization Initiative A.K.A Amendment 2 went into effect in November 2016. The Amendment legalized medical marijuana in Florida, allowing thousands of Floridians to acquire a medical marijuana permit.

If you’re thinking of applying for a permit, make sure to follow this step-by-step guide:

Step # 1: Consult Your Physician

Before you apply for a medical marijuana permit, you need to first consult your physician. Confirm if your condition can be treated with medical marijuana. But not every physician can prescribe medical marijuana. This is because it’s not a prescription. You need a recommendation from an M.D or D.O.
They should have certifications from the Florida Medical Association as well as the Medical Marijuana Use Registry.

Step # 2: Check to See if You’re Qualified

To get a recommendation, you need to meet the criteria listed in Amendment 2.  One of the criteria is that only a person with a chronic or debilitating illness can qualify for the permit.

HIV-AIDS, Crohn’s disease, PTSD, cancer, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, and Multiple Sclerosis (MS) are just some of the many qualifying conditions that make the list.

Of course, it’s recommended that you consult a physician to find out your options and whether the condition you have can be treated with medical marijuana.

If you have a debilitating condition, it’s recommended that you refer to the Americans with Disabilities Act as well.

A fracture or broken bone does not count. Any illness that is not life-threatening or does not count as a disability is not covered in Amendment 2.

Step # 3: Book Your Appointment

If your physician has recommended that you use medical marijuana for treatment, then it’s time to take the last step—finding the right dispensary.

Midori Med, a company based in Aventura, Florida, can help you get your medical marijuana card. They offer evaluations, recommendations, and even devise medical marijuana treatment plans customized for your individual needs.

They help patients connect with the right dispensaries and have a medical marijuana doctor on board as well. Feel free to call 754-777-8283 to book an appointment today or visit their website to learn more.
